Organization Description:

Vital Voices Global Partnership (www.vitalvoices.org), a leading international non-governmental organization committed to advancing women's leadership in the areas of economic empowerment, human rights, and political participation, seeks a talented professional with strong program development and implementation skills for the position of Program Coordinator.


Summary:
The Program Coordinator will support the Vital Voices Human Rights team in several important ways. The Program Coordinator will support various aspects of the Voices Against Violence (VAV) Initiative, including work on the Peace Fellowship, a fellowship program for GBV Advocates related to enhancing Women, Peace, and Security in the Balkans region. This will include support to all program-related tasks, including participant selection, needs assessment, program and curriculum development, and grant review and management. Moreover, they will provide programmatic, logistical, and administrative support for programming in conjunction with the Avon Foundation for Women. Additionally, they will contribute to administrative support, grant management, and program coordination for the Hilton Global Freedom Exchange, a fellowship for anti-trafficking advocates around the world. The Program Coordinator will serve as a backup case manager for the Urgent Assistance Program. The Program Coordinator’s work will include cross- project and cross-team collaboration. This position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Program Manager, Human Rights. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be remote for the time being. Travel may be required when it is safe to do so.


Responsibilities:

  •  Program Logistics, Development and Implementation: Support program planning and execution, including logistical preparations, technological support, participant tracking, monitoring and evaluation tool design, and development of agendas, content, and materials for in-person and virtual events in domestic and international settings.
  • Linguistic and Regional Expertise: Apply linguistic and regional expertise to manage cases and inquires from partners, including those from Latin America & the Caribbean and/or Sub-Saharan Africa.
  •  Reporting: Assist in drafting reports to funders, covering subject matter including monitoring & evaluation, activity implementation, communications updates, best practices identified, lessons learned, and general program updates.
  • Contractor and Sub-Grantee Management: Contribute to the management of sub-grantee fellows and contractor agreements. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and supporting the process of establishing and revising subaward project proposals through the Peace
  • Fellowship and Avon programming; drafting and reviewing contracts and budgets; updating and disseminating templates for program and financial reports to fellows; and requesting and reviewing fellows/sub-grantee reports.
  • Financial Management: Develop program budgets, update budget forecasts, and track project spending. Liaise closely with the Finance and Administration team to process invoices and expense reports.
  • Relationship Management: Identify and liaise with key stakeholders and partners related to the VAV Initiative, including partners from the Urgent Assistance Fund, Peace Fellowship, Global Freedom Exchange, and Avon programming. Maintain contact and relationships with organizations, individuals, and participants on VV’s behalf. Maintain and update database of program participants, experts, partners, and vendors in accordance to Vital Voices guidelines.
  • Case Management: Provide case management support for the Urgent Assistance Fund through the VAV Initiative.
  • Communications: Create 1-pagers, concept notes, project narratives, and other communication materials for the Human Rights team and specific programs. Develop and edit program descriptions on VV and Avon program websites and other print or electronic media.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations or a related field, plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience required, OR Graduate degree in in international relations or a related field, plus 1-3 years of work experience REQUIRED.
  • Advanced language proficiency in Spanish and/or French PREFERRED
  • Strong demonstrated interest in global women’s issues and human rights, particularly the elimination of gender-based violence; REQUIRED
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Spanish or French; PREFERRED
  • Grant management experience, including development of requests for proposals, and ability to effectively coordinate with sub-grantees strongly preferred; and 
  • Experience with database management and case management preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with virtual training and digital platforms is strongly preferred
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, sometimes under difficult or challenging circumstances
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), social networking tools, and database software (i.e. Salesforce)

The Program Coordinator position is a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, DC. Vital Voices does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position. If and when it is safe to travel, domestic and international travel up to 10% may be required for the position.
